Welcome to the privacy policy of Revisely. Revisely (Revisely, we, us, our) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy policy describes how Revisely collects, uses, shares and safeguards the personal data you provide when using this website or our services through your educational institution. Data collected for the provision of our services will be limited solely to the purpose of providing the service for which your educational institution has engaged Revisely. The data processing performed by Revisely on behalf of or for the educational institution is governed by a Data Processing Agreement. In doing so, we follow standards such as the Privacy Covenant or the model agreement from SURF. If we engage third parties to support our services, we ensure that the personal data processed by them is secured in accordance with our security standards and applicable legislation.

Important information and who we are

Your institution, Revisely & you

Revisely provides certain products and services to educational institutions on or through their own websites. In providing these products and services, we collect personal data from or about their students. We consider this personal data to be strictly confidential and do not use it for any purpose other than to improve and deliver our services to the educational institution and on its behalf. With regard to the collection and further processing of such data, the educational institutions act as the responsible parties and our collection, use and exchange of such personal data is governed by our contracts with the educational institutions and the applicable legislation. We recommend that you consult the privacy policy of your educational institution on how your personal data will be used by your educational institution.

Purpose of this Privacy policy

This privacy policy is intended to provide you with information on how we collect and process your personal data through your use of this website and our services. It is important that you read this privacy policy carefully so that you are fully aware of how and why we use your data.

Cookies, or similar techniques, that we use

Revisely only uses technical, functional and analytical cookies that do not infringe on your privacy. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone when visiting this website. The cookies we use are necessary for the technical functioning of the website and your ease of use. They ensure that the website works properly and remember, for example, your preferences. They also enable us to optimise our website. You can unsubscribe from cookies by configuring your internet browser in such a way that it no longer saves any cookies. In addition, you can delete all information previously stored using your browser settings.

Teachers’ data

  1. Revisely makes it possible for teachers to create a trial account and to make use of Revisely.
  2. While creating the (trial) account, the name, e-mail address and name of the educational institution of the teacher will be stored.
  3. When using Revisely, information about the computer, the operating system, the browser, the data entered in Revisely, the traffic from and to the website (revise.ly), the referring URL and the IP address is stored in the secure environment and databases of Revisely and/or a third party engaged.
  4. The information referred to in 2 and 3 shall be used by Revisely (or a third party engaged) for:
    1. providing its services, including the provision of Revisely;
    2. following up complaints and/or reports;
    3. answering questions;
    4. the compliance with the General Conditions of and/or the house rules of Revisely;
    5. measuring the interest in its services and promoting usability of Revisely;
    6. informing about (other) services of Revisely;
    7. making targeted offers for, and sending advertising messages about Revisely; and
    8. any other purposes as described specifically when collecting the information.
  5. This information will be stored and processed in accordance with the provisions in this article and the applicable laws and regulations and will not be kept longer than necessary for the purposes described in this privacy policy.
  6. Revisely is responsible for processing the personal data of the information referred to in 2 and 3, in line with the Data Processing Agreement.

Student’s data

  1. If a teacher decides to use Revisely for his/her students or other teachers, the teacher can create an account for them, by entering their first name, surname, e-mail, educational institution and class in Revisely.
  2. Revisely endorses the Privacy Covenant and processes the student data only in accordance with the purposes as stipulated in this Covenant.
  3. For further information regarding the processing of personal data of students, Revisely refers to its privacy annex.


Security

  1. Revisely takes various technical and organisational measures (including encryption, passwords, physical security) to protect the stored (personal) data against loss or against any form of unauthorised access, unauthorised disclosure or otherwise unlawful processing.
  2. The data of the teacher and/or student are stored and Dublin.
  3. Revisely is protected with an encrypted connection (TLS) to ensure security between the computer of the teacher, the educational institution or the student and the servers of Revisely.
  4. The measures referred to in the preceding provisions, taking into account the status of the technique and the costs of implementation, ensure an appropriate level of security in view of the risks involved in the processing and the nature of the personal data to be protected. The measures are also aimed at preventing unnecessary collection and further processing of personal data. In the Data Processing Agreement, the measures taken by Revisely are explained in more detail.

Third parties

  1. Without explicit and prior consent, Revisely will not provide personal data to third parties, not being the educational institution where the teacher works or the student is enrolled.
  2. Notwithstanding the provisions under 14, Revisely may, without the prior consent of the person concerned, pass on personal data to third parties such as rightholders, supervisors, tax authorities, judiciary, police and other investigative authorities:
    1. to comply with its legal obligations or court order;
    2. if necessary in the interest of preventing, detecting or prosecuting criminal offenses (such as fraud or deception);
    3. if this is necessary for maintaining the conditions of use and/or house rules of Revisely;
    4. if necessary in the interests of the protection of the rights and freedoms of others;
    5. if Revisely is involved in a merger or acquisition, where the personal data will be shared with the company concerned; or
    6. if Revisely involves a party for processing assigned data, whereby Revisely will apply strict conditions regarding security and confidentiality. Revisely guarantees the processing will only take place for purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Access, modify or delete

  1. The teacher can view, change or delete his/her personal data on the ‘My Account’ page.
  2. To view her/his personal data which is stored and not directly accessible, the teacher can contact Revisely, unless Revisely is not obliged to provide this access under the GDPR/AVG.
  3. If the personal details of the teacher are factually incorrect or incomplete or irrelevant for the purposes for which Revisely processes the personal data, the teacher can request Revisely to correct, supplement, delete or foreclose his/her data. Such requests will be handled in accordance with the GDPR/AVG.
